It's Christmas Eve!

The kids are napping, DH is out shopping (!)--yes, we are VERY last minute people, my parents will be over in about 2 hours. I am so mad because something I ordered for them that was GUARANTEED to get here before Christmas...didn't. SO I should get the shipping credited to me if it was guaranteed, right???

I am excited because tonight is really the first time we've done Santa...I can't wait to see the kids faces tomorrow morning! And Santa just may have something for Brian under the tree too... :)

Ok, so it's only 3 days before Christmas, but I finally am sort of in the Christmas spirit! I am sure it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that I am off for 6 whole days....but whatever it takes! I made banana nut bread (FROM SCRATCH!!) today and Chex mix (FROM SCRATCH). Those who know me know I don't bake. Ever. But I am actually enjoying it. :) I have to wrap some gifts today; which brings me to this: People, Santa doesn't wrap gifts! His elves are much too busy! Every year I hear this debate, and even had it with a friend a few days ago....The point of Santa is for the kids to run into the room and be so overwhelmed by what they see they don't know where to look first. I am really excited about it this year, because it's the first year the kids know what's going on!

Pretty boring stuff....

Well, mostly anyway. Matthew started complaining this weekend about his "teeth hurting". Wouldn't eat anything. So we poked and prodded and he had 3 fairly good sized sores on his tongue. So we've been letting him eat whatever he wants, just so he gets some calories. I thought it might just be unfortunate, because I have had mouth ulcers most all my life, and pretty bad. I'll go a couple of months and not have one and then I'll have 4. OH, if you've never had them THEY HURT SO BAD. Matt wasn't eating much or talking much, and for him that is unusual. He was better today though. But then Madi started complaining about the same thing! So my sitter said it could be foot-and-mouth disease...i'm gonna have to research that. On a better note, tomorrow is my last day at work til next Wed! Yay! Haven't had that long of a stretch off in a long time; I certainly have plenty to do!!

Is it wrong to hate this time of year?

Sigh. I used to LOVE Christmas. I loved shopping, decorating, cold weather....and of course, Christmas Vacation. Most of all, I love the TRUE meaning of Christmas. And I still do. That hasn't changed at all. But what has changed is that now I have a full time job, and 2 kids, and don't have 2 or 3 weeks off for Christmas....which means VERY little time to get things done. (yes I know MILLIONS of others are in my shoes). So my attitude has changed over the years from LOVING this time of year to positively DREADING it. Quite sad, really. I am actually lucky this year that I am getting a couple of days before Christmas off. Up til now, I only had Christmas day and that was it. I hate the crowds. I hate the PAIN of putting up decorations and a tree (but I'm doing a tree for the kids).I hate that it's rush rush rush and then back to work. I am turning into a Scrooge. Now I understand why, when we were teenagers, my mom said that if we wanted a tree that my sister and I had to put it up. Thanks mom, I've inherited your Scrooginess.

Birthday Time!

So my BABIES turned 3 yesterday! Wow how time flies. Today is their party. I have lots of cleaning to do (not that that is unusual for me). We are giving them those battery-powered cars; a princess convertible for Madison (how very fitting), and a 4-wheeler like daddy's for Matt. They are probably too little to know how to turn them but they'll enjoy sitting in them. Last night, Brian and I went out to eat for our anniversary (yes, we ditched the kids on their birthday--but their party is today, so it's all good!). Went to Pappadeaux (don't know if I spelled that right or not!). Was wonderful as usual...just can't afford to eat there all the time! As we were getting the kids ready to take to Tina's, Bubba looked at Sissy and said "you are a cutie pie". How sweet!! Well, guess I'd better go wrap some gifts...nothing like waiting til the last minute!

I am so ready for my little boy to be potty trained. He is not ready; I know that. But I WANT him to be! He will be 3 on Friday, and screams at the thought of wearing underwear. SOMETIMES he will sit on the potty, but doesn't like it. I want him to try wearing underwear for one day and just getting very wet and maybe that will make him more aware (worked for my nephew anyway)...but he throws a fit if I put anything but a diaper on him. So if any of you guys have any advice, or if your little boy took this long or longer and you have encouragement, I will gladly take it!

Well, I took the plunge...

and started a blog! Can't believe it; but I do enjoy reading so many other people's I thought I'd give it a shot. So for the 2 people out there reading this, THANKS! Actually, I thought it might be a good way for our family to see snips of our (very crazy) daily life.

I am going to say kudos to all the single moms out there. I couldn't do it. I have often told my MIL that she doesn't have to worry about me leaving Brian until the kids are like 7 years old, because he helps me too much. I am a single parent this weekend, Brian should be back from hunting on Tuesday. Wow. Nearly-3 year old twins can be a pain. Bubba slammed Sissy's finger in the door earlier this morning, and she still won't use that hand (!) And they both said "shut up momma" today...to which they got in HEAPS of trouble. THANK GOODNESS for Noggin...love that station! (yes i am one of "those" parents).
